AWS ParallelCluster
The ReD Environment provides AWS ParallelCluster + Open OnDemand as a scale-out high-performance computing environment with a web front end through Open OnDemand and SLURM batch processing scheduler. Each Principal Investigator (PI) and/or project will have its own dedicated partition(s) that can be customized for the specific technology (instance type, cores, memory, GPUs) needs and capacity limits for that PI and/or project.
Two types of POSIX data storage are provided: (1) home directories and (2) lab directories.
Home directories are small, not performant EBS volumes meant for configuration files, with the permissions of read/write only for individual users.
Lab directories are on an FSx Lustre filesystem backed by S3 and by default, have permissions to read/write to the entire lab. Upon request, additional project-specific folders and permissions can be set up.
